Car leather ages quietly: fine dirt and skin oils act as an abrasive with every entry, the sun dries it out, and within a few years the driver's seat looks a decade older than the rest of the interior. The good news — the process is largely reversible and, above all, it can be stopped.
At Verk Detailing we treat leather in three steps: gentle cleaning, hydration with dedicated products and, optionally, a ceramic protection layer made specifically for leather.
Why car leather deteriorates
There are three main culprits: abrasive dirt collecting in the leather's pores and creases, constant friction from getting in and out, and UV rays drying the finish layer. The leather starts to shine unnaturally, then fades on the contact areas and eventually cracks.
Regular cleaning and hydration break exactly this chain — which is why properly cared-for leather still looks great after many years of use.
The Verk process: clean, hydrate, protect
We clean leather with pH-neutral solutions and soft brushes, lifting dirt out of the pores without stressing the finish. Then comes hydration — we use Koch Chemie Leather Star or Colourlock Leather Care with UV protection, restoring the supple, healthy matte look.
For lasting protection we apply Gyeon Q² LeatherShield — a ceramic layer designed specifically for leather that blocks dye transfer from clothing, repels liquids and reduces friction on contact areas.

When it's worth doing and how long it takes

Why does car seat leather crack?
